I am thrilled to receive a 5* Editorial Book Review from Readers Favorite for Walk with Mara on Her Healing Journey: 21 Steps to Emotional Resilience. I appreciated how the Reviewer saw that my self-help is different from others.
My self-help book combines psychology and Christianity in a unique way, sharing my personal experiences with managing emotions and reconstructing my faith. It truly is a fusion of self-help and devotional, providing practical tools from psychotherapy that can help cope with emotions, and providing new, empowering ways of seeing Scripture that can help cope with feeling low self-esteem. Think of it advice from a grandmother - someone who has lived a variety of experiences and triumphed over destructive thoughts. My goal is to help those who have been hurt, sidelined, or silenced by religious beliefs to find hope and rekindle their faith.

How people deal with emotional trauma can vary. Following traumatic experiences, people may feel unable to function properly, and, most of the time, are unable to process challenges that lie ahead. The good news is that there are effective ways to cope with the stressful effects of emotional trauma. In Walk with Mara on Her Healing Journey: 21 Steps to Emotional Resilience, Elaine Ricker Kelly invites you on a transformational journey that has the power of emotional resilience.
A fusion of self-help and devotional reading, Healing Journey offers faith and evidence-based intervention for anyone seeking to cope with psychological and emotional scars and to accept a genuine feeling of self-worth to face life’s adversities. A fascinating character named Mara, who emerges victorious in her search for healing, is your guide at every step of your journey. Every step is a process that becomes a building block to help you create a better you.
On the surface, this would appear to be just another self-help book on a familiar theme of faith and psychology. But Elaine Ricker Kelly has too much respect for her target audience, her experience, and reality itself. Her real backstory confirms that she understands you. She used to be a child once seen but not heard, a child who was conditioned to bottle up her feelings. But given that our emotions are not static, this path has hurt her mental and emotional being tremendously.
Walk with Mara on Her Healing Journey: 21 Steps to Emotional Resilience gives you a moment to reflect. It is a book of statements, affirmations, and hope. If you genuinely engage with every step provided in this work, answering the questions, you will understand that this book celebrates courage in all its splendor. For anyone seeking much-needed support toward emotional resilience, this book is for you.
