What would you do if you got a message from someone you didn't know named Sunshine, who said she could help promote your books?
I checked it out and it was legitimate! Sunshine Rodgers is a best-selling Christian author who has a feature on her website aimed at helping other authors - no charge and no catch. I really appreciate Sunshine's acceptance of me in her community, her support of me and my writing, and her prayers for me.

The feature is called What's In Your Bag? To prepare for the interview, I gathered my books and merchandise together. I used a bowl instead of a bag because I have a character who loves to cook. Her son, Jamie, is a blacksmith and jeweller who makes fish designs for new believers, so I have a supply of fish pendants (from Etsy) that I sometimes offer at events or in combination with my books. (Let me know if I can come to one of your events or meetings!)
We talked about the first novel being set in the time of the Gospels, and the second one in early Acts. The fish and rainbow stickers are affirming Christian stickers that go with my books. I have a themed cardboard bookmark for each of my two novels. The post-it notes below the bowl show Joanna, striding with determination to do what she is called to do, even though it may mean the loss of her son. This bookmaker says: "The Spirit gives us the power of boldness". As I researched women speaking and preaching, and the biblical interpretations requiring or restricting such leadership, I wrote The Sword: A Fun Way to Engage in Healthy Debate on What the Bible Says About a Woman's Role. I am preparing to release Walk with Mara on Her Healing Journey: 21 Steps to Emotional Resilience on August 7th!
